Greetings everyone,
My name is Francesca Hawley, and I’m part of the new crew of contributors for the Raven Happy Hour Blog. I’m really thrilled to participate. I considered all the topics on which I might offer some insight or interest and decided to go with astrology. I’ve always been fascinated by the topic. I remember growing up, my mother had piles of astrology books around her as she tried to figure out how to create her horoscope. We’d talk about sun signs and what characteristics the different signs contributed to someone’s personality.
I’m no expert on the topic but it has always interested me, so I decided this would be my contribution to the blog. I hope to interview a friend of mine who is a professional astrologer next month and I will talk about how astrology affects us as writers and can be used to as a plotting tool for our characters. If you have any topics or ideas you’d particularly like me to consider for future posts, please include them in the comments here or stop by my web site to email me suggestions.
Astrology is a particularly good topic for me to start with because…today is my birthday. Yes, really. I’m a Libra. So to celebrate my birthday I’m going to give out a present. A little change from the norm, but what the hay. So if you comment today through Friday the 23rd, I’ll send one lucky winner a copy of my book Protect and Defend. If you live in the US, I’ll send you a print copy – and outside the US an e-copy.
So I’m a Libra. What does that mean? It means I can see both sides of just about any issue and argue both so well, someone will think they’ve been chatting up a lawyer. In fact, I can talk a topic into the ground sometimes and I deliberate on what my opinion really is. To be a Libra is to love beauty. I tend to be genial, if a touch wishy washy (the downside of seeing both sides of everything). I have some trouble making decisions – which can be a major pain. Trust me on this. However, once I’ve made a decision it will take dynamite to move me from it. Hey, I’ve looked at the decision from every side, once I know what I think. I know. Yeah, gotta love me.
I feel a real need for partnership and I have been accused of being in love with love. Maybe that’s why I write erotic romance. I live for happy endings. I am a peacemaker – sometimes to my own detriment. I want everyone to be happy.

I’ve gotten a lot of my information on astrology from books, but I’ve also found there are some books that really hit the nail on the head. For example, Linda Goodman knows her astrology. I use bothe her Sun Signs and Love Signs books for reference. They help me to figure me out.
So the question of the day is…hey baby, what’s your sign? And what does it say about you?
